You've officially started your road trip from Fort Worth - now what? Before you head towards Waco, stop and take a moment to enjoy all that Fort Worth has to offer. Stop #1: Fort Worth Water Gardens
Start your Fort Worth road trip off on a fun and relaxing note. The Fort Worth Water Gardens, built in 1974, is located right downtown near the Convention Center - making it a perfect first (or last) stop along your journey. You can walk along the water features, take in the unique beauty, and learn a bit about its history!
Stop #2: Fort Worth Zoo
Once you've begun making your way a little bit outside of the city, your next stop should be the Fort Worth Zoo. Home to over 540 species including 72 species of mammals, 148 species of birds and 172 species of ectotherms, the Fort Worth Zoo is a fun stop for campers of all ages!
Stop #3: Hard 8 BBQ
Would it be a true Texas roadtrip without stopping for some tasty BBQ? Located right off the main road is the delicious Hard 8 BBQ where you can taste some of the best Texas flavor without breaking the bank. Try dishes like brisket, pulled pork, chicken poppers, and so much more. Plus, you might even have some leftovers for the rest of the trip!
Stop #4: Bailey Lake Park
By this point in your drive, you may be ready to stretch your legs, so our next recommendation is stopping at the beautiful Bailey Lake Park. To walk around the whole lake is only a quick .6 miles, an easy stretch for the whole family! Stop #5: Skydive Dallas
For the dare-devils in the bunch looking to get your heart rate up along your road trip from Fort Worth, check out Skydive Dallas! Skydiving certainly is not for everyone, but for some it can be the experience of a lifetime. Skydive Dallas offers three different options for skydiving, including tadem jumps for first timers. Please note you must be over 18 year of age to participate. If part of your group wants to get a rush, but this isn't up your alley, it's even fun to watch!
Stop #6: Camp Fimfo Waco
Located under around an hour and a half away from Fort Worth, and less than 10 minutes from downtown Waco, is Camp Fimfo Waco. The newest location on the Camp Fimfo roster, is the perfect home-base for either a day of fun in the sun or an overnight stay!
