Lawn Games Played
Cornhole
The backyard classic, played under official rules. Land it on the board for 1 point or sink it for 3. Only the difference counts each round.
To win: First team to 21 or more.
Full Cornhole Rules
Equipment: Boards are 2 ft by 4 ft with a 6-inch hole centered 9 inches from the top. The back of the board sits 12 inches off the ground. Bags are 6 by 6 inches and weigh about 16 oz. Each player gets 4 bags.

Court: Boards are 27 feet apart, front edge to front edge. Each board has a pitcher's box on each side, 3 ft wide by 4 ft long. The foul line is the front edge of the board.

Play: The two players at one end stand in opposite pitcher's boxes and take turns throwing one bag at a time until all 8 are thrown. That's one round. The next round is thrown by the two players at the other end. You have 15 seconds to throw once your opponent's bag has stopped moving.

Scoring:
  • Bag through the hole: 3 points
  • Bag resting on the board: 1 point, including a bag hanging over the edge of the hole
  • Bag that touches the ground or anything else before landing on the board: 0 points
  • Bags knocked onto the board or into the hole by any bag count where they end up.

Cancellation: Only the difference scores each round. If your team gets 7 and the other team gets 4, your team scores 3 and they score 0. Only one team can score in a round.

How to win: The first team to reach 21 or more points at the end of a round wins. You do not have to win by 2.

Time limit: 20 minutes. If time runs out first, finish the round in progress and the higher score wins. If the score is tied, play one more round.

Fouls: The bag is removed and scores 0 if you:
  • Step on or past the foul line before releasing the bag
  • Throw without at least one foot in the pitcher's box
  • Throw from the wrong pitcher's box
  • Take longer than 15 seconds to throw
Ladder Ball
Toss your bolas at the ladder: 3 points for the top rung, 2 for the middle and 1 for the bottom. Go over 21 and that round doesn't count.
To win: First team to exactly 21.
Full Ladder Ball Rules
Setup: Two ladders, 15 feet apart. Each ladder has three rungs. Each player gets 3 bolas (two balls joined by a rope). Throw from beside your ladder, toward the other one.

Play: At one end, the first player throws all 3 bolas, then their opponent throws all 3. That's one round. The next round is thrown by the two players at the other end.

Scoring:
  • Top rung: 3 points
  • Middle rung: 2 points
  • Bottom rung: 1 point
  • Count points only after all 6 bolas are thrown. A bola only counts if it's still wrapped on a rung at that point.
  • You can knock the other team's bolas off. Any bola knocked onto a rung counts for whoever owns it.

Scoring style: Both teams keep what they earn. There's no cancellation.

How to win: Reach exactly 21 points as a team. If a round would take your team past 21, none of your team's points that round count and your score stays where it was.

Time limit: 10 minutes. If time runs out first, finish the round in progress and the higher score wins. A tie goes to the tiebreaker.

Tiebreaker: If both teams hit exactly 21 in the same round, play single-throw rounds:
  • Each team picks one player to throw. Teams can pick a different player for each tiebreaker round.
  • Both throwers throw from the same end.
  • Coin toss decides who throws first in the first tiebreaker round.
  • Each thrower throws one bola. The team with more points that round wins the game.
  • If the round is tied, keep playing single-throw rounds until one team outscores the other.
  • The exact-21 rule does not apply in the tiebreaker. Only the points in each tiebreaker round count.
Tumble Tower
Pull a block, stack it on top, and don't be the team that brings it down. Each team gets 10 minutes on the clock, so you can't stall your way through.
To win: Make the other team topple the tower, or outlast their clock.
Full Tumble Tower Rules
Setup: 54 blocks stacked in 18 levels, 3 blocks per level. Each level runs the opposite direction from the one below it. Build on a flat, hard surface. Set a chess clock to 10 minutes per team, so no game runs longer than 20 minutes of play. Spectators stay at least one tower-height back.

Turn order: Coin toss decides which team pulls first. Teams alternate turns. Within each team, the two teammates take turns pulling, so nobody pulls twice in a row for their team.

The clock:
  • Each team gets 10 minutes total for the game.
  • Your team's clock runs only during your team's turns.
  • Once your block is on top and your hands are off the tower, press the clock to start the other team's time.
  • Both teammates share one clock.
  • Only the event host can pause the clock, and only for a dispute or a safety issue.

Play:
  • On your turn, pull one block from any level below the top complete level, then place it on top of the tower.
  • Use one hand at a time. Only the player whose turn it is can touch the tower.
  • You can tap blocks to test them. If you shift one and decide not to take it, put it back where it was before you try another.
  • Finish each new top level (3 blocks) before you start the next one, and keep the directions alternating.

When a fall counts against you: If the tower falls during your turn, or after you place your block but before the other team touches the tower, it counts against your team. Once the other team touches the tower, any fall counts against them

How to win: One tower, one game. Your team wins if:
  • The other team knocks the tower over, or
  • The other team's clock runs out.

There are no ties in Tower Tumble. If the tower falls and a clock hits zero at nearly the same moment, the tower falling overrules the time expiration. The fall goes against whichever team it counts against under the fall rule above.

Washers
Land a washer in the box for 1 point or drop it in the cup for 3. Only the difference counts each round.
To win: First team to 21 or more.
Full Washers Rules
Setup: Two washer boxes, 20 feet apart, front edge to front edge. Each box has a cup in the center. Each player gets 3 washers. Stand behind or next to your box and throw to the opposite one.

Play: The two players at one end take turns throwing one washer at a time until all 6 are thrown. That's one round. The next round is thrown by the two players at the other end.

Scoring:
  • Washer in the cup: 3 points
  • Washer inside the box but not in the cup: 1 point
  • Washer on the rim, leaning on the edge, or outside the box: 0 points

Cancellation: Only the difference scores each round.

How to win: The first team to reach 21 or more at the end of a round wins.

Time limit: 20 minutes. If time runs out first, finish the round in progress and the higher score wins. If the score is tied, play one more round.

FAQ
Do I have to be staying at Camp Fimfo to play?
No. Anyone can register a team. Non-guests can play in the tournament but don't have access to resort amenities. Want the full Camp Fimfo experience? Book a stay for any tournament weekend.
How much does it cost?
$60 per team of two.
How do we register?
One teammate registers the team online and adds their partner's name. Both players must be there on tournament day. Registration closes 2 hours before the tournament starts. Teams are set once you register, so partners can't be swapped.
How long does a tournament take?
It depends on how far you go. Plan to be on site most of the morning if you're aiming for the final. We anticipate the tournament lasting about 3.5-4 hours total.

What do we need to bring?
Just your partner and your game face. And maybe a water bottle. We provide all the equipment.
Can we play more than one Saturday?
Yes. Each tournament is its own event, so register for as many as you like. However, past champions can not enter again after winning.

What happens if not enough teams sign up?
Each tournament needs at least 16 teams. If fewer register, the event host may cancel, and all entry fees will be refunded.
How is the prize paid?
The champion team receives two $500 Visa gift cards, emailed to the address used for registration within 14 business days. Each player on the winning team also gets a custom champion belt buckle at the event.
What if it rains?
If weather gets in the way, the tournament will be rescheduled as needed, and registered teams will be notified of the new date by email.
Is there an age requirement?
One team member must be 18+ years or older to register and participate. Participants under 18 need approval from their parent/guardian.
Can friends and family come watch?
Yes. Spectators are welcome but will not have access to the park amenities.
Are there referees? Who settles disputes?
There are no referees. We rely on good sportsmanship between teams. Any disputes will be determined by Camp Fimfo staff overseeing the tournament. All decisions are final.
What are the Official Gameplay Rules?

General rules (all games)

Format: Every Fimfo Lawn Games game is played as doubles, two players per team.
Single-game elimination: Every match is one game. The winning team advances and the losing team is out.
Court positions (cornhole, ladder ball, washers): Teammates stand at opposite ends of the court. That puts one player from each team at each end, throwing against each other.
First throw: Coin toss at the start of each game. After that, the team that scored last throws first. If nobody scored, the team that threw first last round goes first again.
Time limits: Cornhole and washers 20 minutes, ladder ball 10 minutes, Tower Tumble ends by the chess clock.
Disputes: The Fimfo Lawn Games event host makes the final call. Don't touch any bag, washer or bola until both teams agree on the score for that round.

What is the Players Code of Conduct?

Play fair, play nice

Friendly trash talk is part of the backyard. Disrespect isn't.
  • Respect everyone. That means opponents, teammates, the event host, staff, guests and spectators. No personal insults, slurs, threats or harassment of any kind.
  • Keep your language in check. Families and kids are on property. Don't direct profanity at anyone.
  • Play by the posted rules. Know them before you step on the court. The rules are posted at campfimfo.com/texas-hill-country/lawn-games.
  • Score honestly. Agree on the score before anyone touches a bag, washer, bola or block. If you can't agree, call the event host.
  • Don't distract. No talking, moving or standing in a thrower's line of sight during their throw or pull, and never touch the tower on the other team's turn.
  • Leave the equipment alone. Don't alter, move or tamper with boards, ladders, boxes, blocks or bags.
  • The event host's call is final. Disagree respectfully, then play on.
  • Win well, lose well. Shake hands, bump fists or tip your cap after every game.

Be ready to play

A bracket only runs on time if every team does.
  • Check in on time. Both players must check in with the event host by [check-in time]. A team that isn't checked in by the first round forfeits its spot.
  • Show up when you're called. Report to your court as soon as your match is announced. A team that isn't at its court within [5] minutes of being called forfeits that game.
  • Both players play. Teams are set at registration. No substitutes, and a team can't play a game with one player.
  • Stay close between rounds. Stay within earshot of the tournament area so you don't miss your call.

Stay safe, respect the property

  • Throw only in play. Throw bags, washers and bolas only from your box toward the opposite target, and only when it's your turn.
  • Keep courts clear. Never walk across an active court. Wait until the round ends.
  • Give the tower room. Spectators and waiting teams stay at least one tower-height back from Tower Tumble.
  • Drink responsibly. Follow Camp Fimfo's alcohol policy. A player who appears impaired may be removed from play. [Confirm the on-property alcohol policy for the tournament area.]
  • Non-guests stay in the tournament area. Registration covers the tournament only, not resort amenities.
  • Leave it better than you found it. Return equipment to the court after every game, and use the trash and recycling bins.

Spectators

Fans are welcome, and they're held to the same standard as players. Teams are responsible for their own crowd.
  • Cheer all you want, but stay quiet and still during a throw or pull.
  • Stay off the courts and out of throwing lanes.
  • Don't touch equipment or scoring pieces.
  • Leave scoring calls to the players and the event host.
  • Watch the kids. Keep them clear of active courts and the tower.

Consequences

The event host steps in as needed, usually in this order. Penalties apply to the whole team, including for a spectator the team brought.
